CIRò: THE UNIQUENESS OF A TERRITORY

The authentic character of Calabria.

Baroni Capoano rises on the hills above Cirò Marina, a town in the province of Crotone, in the heart of the production of Cirò D.O.C. The province of Crotone overlooks the Ionian Sea and extends over a territory whose geomorphological conformation is peculiar characterized by the coexistence, in a few kilometers, of mountain, hilly and flat landscapes.

THE AREA

The province of Crotone overlooks the Ionian Sea and extends over a territory whose geomorphological conformation is peculiar characterized by the coexistence, in a few kilometers, of mountain, hilly and flat landscapes.

Tourists have the opportunity to move in a short time from the sea to the mountains of Sila and enjoy a remarkable natural heritage (marine reserve “Capo Rizzuto”, National Park of Calabria) and sites of historical and artistic interest ((archaeological park of Apollo Aleo di Cirò M., Saracen Markets of Cirò M., Castello di Santa Severina, Castel Capoano Cirò.)

CLIMATE

The territory is characterized by a temperate climate that gives our wines scents and freshness; draining soils with excellent mineral intake allow the production of wines with a very marked fruity component, combined with a refined elegance.

The flavors are those typical of Mediterranean cuisine, enhanced by extra virgin olive oil olive oil from the hills
and wines of ancient tradition.

GRAPE VARIETIES

The vines that contribute to the production of Cirò wine are mainly two: gaglioppo and the white greek..

Gaglioppo
It grows in a dry and harsh soil, characteristics suitable for this vine, among other things very resistant and characterized by a fairly early ripening. It is a red grape variety and the wine that is obtained has an intense ruby red color with vinous aromas. The gradation of the wine obtained is high (often exceeds 14 degrees) with a remarkable body. Therefore, the wine made from Gaglioppo grapes lends itself well to the aging of 6-8 years.

Greek white
The wine obtained from Greek grapes has a more or less intense straw-yellow color with a tendency to golden and amber reflections, with a characteristic scent of dried fruit, a soft and harmonious taste, to be drunk young and in any case possibly within two years.
